Area restaurants and bars are serving special menus and drinks.
Edgar Melendez, executive chef at the M Street Bar and Grill, has prepared an inaugural celebration menu based on presidential favorites.  Diners can savor appetizers, entrees and desserts representing ten presidents.  The Obama dish, an appetizer, is three mini chili tortilla cups for $8.  George W. Bush is also represented by an appetizer, deviled eggs at $7, while Bill Clinton is represented by peach pie at $8.

According to the description:

"...we have looked for inspiration to those foods favored by our present and past Presidents.  Every attempt has been made to remain faithful to the original recipe that inspired their creation, except for presentation, that I have used by imagination and love of food to guide me.  Good food is a timeless vocation and part of our national patrimony."

2100 Prime Executive Chef Chris Ferrier's 57th Presidential Inauguration Menu includes "recreations of dishes that have been served to Presidents in the past in DC."  According to the web page, "Chef has brainstormed with his culinary team to bring back a few of the classics."  The three-course meal runs $75 per person or $115 with wine pairings.
