Cain Officially Endorses Romney
Tells Congressional Tea Party Caucus, Tea Party Leaders, ‘We Need Unity!’

(Washington, D.C.) Former presidential frontrunner Herman Cain today told more than 100 members of the Congressional Tea Party Caucus and leaders of the nation’s most influential TEA party groups that he is officially endorsing Mitt Romney for President.

Cain made the announcement in Washington D.C. after a meeting called by Tea Party Caucus leader Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) to discuss the American economy and the American Dream. The meeting was touted as “The More Perfect Union Panel”.

“One way to achieve this goal of a more perfect union is by getting Barack Obama out of the White House,” Cain said. “Throwing our support and energy behind Mitt Romney is a big step in accomplishing this mission.”

Cain added that he already supported Romney prior to making the endorsement official. “I’ve met with him privately and now I’m telling everyone publicly, if Mitt Romney wasn’t your favorite candidate for the Republican nomination, Get Over It! We need unity to take back the White House and the Senate, and keep control of the House of Representatives. Since the beginning of the year, I have been touring the country speaking to all kinds of groups. And this message is resonating not just among Tea Party groups and political candidates, but people of faith, disgruntled Democrats and Republicans alike – and especially college students.”

At a meeting behind closed doors in late April, Cain encouraged Romney to be strong in his embrace of fundamental principles espoused by Tea Party groups and other conservative voices. Cain said then that not everyone in the Republican camp will agree on everything, but Gov. Romney gets the big things right - especially recognizing that federal policies are the biggest impediment to American prosperity.

“This is why I officially endorse Gov. Romney. I now call on the millions of Americans who want to end disastrous government policies that compromise our freedom and prosperity to do the same and help Gov. Romney win in November.”

Also attending today’s meeting were leaders of TheTeaParty.net, Tea Party Nation and Tea Party Patriots, groups that have been instrumental in leading the charge to mobilize Americans to take back power that rightfully belongs to the people, not government.
