MITT ROMNEY ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF MISSOURI LEADERS AND MISSOURI FINANCE CHAIRMEN

Boston, MA – Today, Mitt Romney traveled to St. Louis for a finance event where he welcomed the support of prominent Missouri leaders including his Missouri Finance Chairmen, Ambassador Sam Fox and Mr. Jeff Fox.

“I am proud to have the support of so many Missouri leaders,” Mitt Romney said. “They share my goals of creating jobs, getting spending under control, and reversing the policies of President Obama that have failed the American people.”

Announcing his support, Senator Jim Talent said, “Mitt Romney has the experience from both the private and public sector to get our economy moving again. He has a record of creating jobs and balancing budgets that stands in contrast to President Obama’s failed record of job losses and record debt and deficits.”

Ambassador Sam Fox Is The Former U.S. Ambassador To Belgium. He is a member of Civic Progress, serves on the Executive Committee of Washington University’s Board of Trustees, was the former President of the Board of Commissioners of the Saint Louis Art Museum, and the former Chairman and President of the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Jeff Fox Is Chairman And CEO Of Harbour Group. Mr. Fox began working at the Harbour Group in 1985, and held various positions there before being named president and COO in 1998. He is a board member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis, the Backstoppers, and the Saint Louis Zoo.

Senator Jim Talent Is A Former U.S. Senator Who Was Elected In 2002 And Served Until 2007. Before being elected to the U.S. Senate, he was a member of the U.S. House Of Representatives for eight years. Sen. Talent has served as a senior adviser to Mitt Romney and is a fellow at the Heritage Foundation.

Tom Schweich Was Elected Missouri State Auditor In 2010. A fifth generation Missourian, Schweich has a long history of public service. He served as chief of staff of the Danforth Waco investigation, chief of staff of the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, deputy director of the law enforcement division of the State Department, and U.S. Coordinator for Counternarcotics and Justice Reform in Afghanistan. In March 2007, President Bush accorded Schweich the personal rank of ambassador. Schweich is also the author of three books and numerous articles on law, business, careers, foreign policy, and economic history.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Dempsey Was First Elected To The Missouri Senate In 2007. Sen. Dempsey was reelected to the Missouri Senate in 2008 and before that, he served for seven years in the Missouri House. During this time, he served as House Majority Floor Leader for three years and he chaired the Job Creation and Economic Development Committee. In addition to his duties in elective office, Sen. Dempsey is vice president of First National Bank of St. Louis.

Majority Floor Leader Rep. Timothy Jones Was First Elected To The Missouri House Of Representatives In 2006. Rep. Jones was reelected to a third term in 2010. Rep. Jones is Chairman of the Ethics Committee and the Special Standing Committee on Election Contests. He is also a member of the Joint Committee on Legislative Research.
