Romney offered Ryan the vice presidential slot at a secret meeting in Boston on Aug. 5.  The news broke on the night of Aug. 10 and the ticket made their first appearance in Norfolk, VA as "America's Comeback Team" on Aug. 11.  They split up on the evening of Aug. 12, and on Aug. 13 Ryan made his first solo appearance, at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.  He was also quickly put on the fundraising trail, doing his first fundraiser in Denver, CO on that evening, and having nine more funderaising events on the schedule through Aug. 25.  On Aug. 29 he delivered his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.
