WITH SUPER TUESDAY
RESULTS UNCLEAR, AMERICANS ELECT PROVIDES SERIOUS THIRD CHOICE
AE
is giving American voters the chance to bypass two-party system
WASHINGTON, D.C., MARCH 7, 2012 - As the nationwide
frenzy
of Super Tuesday draws to a close, it is clear there’s still no real
winner among the field of Republican candidates. Despite that, the
White House has decided to start its general election campaign early in
an effort to win back Democratic voters and Independents who have been
disappointed over the last three years.
Americans Elect, however, is telling the American people that it is not
time to settle. We are giving all voters a serious third choice for
president in 2012. We are unencumbered by special interest and Super
PAC money. We’re not influenced by the political class of consultants
or guided by Washington lobbyists. Americans Elect is giving the
American people the chance to draft and directly nominate candidates
who can run authentically, untethered to the fringes of political
parties.
Amid low turnout yesterday among voters age 30 and younger in Super
Tuesday states – with some turnout estimates as low as 5 percent – the
electorate continues to cool to the erratic nature of the GOP primaries
and the two-party system as a whole.
“Americans Elect is the serious third choice to bring about the kind of
reliable leadership this country needs to create reform. We believe
that if we can change the way we elect our leaders, we can change the
way they govern,” said Elliot Ackerman, COO of Americans Elect.
Seizing on the leadership vacuum in Washington created by an unpopular
president and a Congress that habitually fails to act, Americans Elect
and it’s volunteer delegates nationwide have stepped forward and
answered the call to change this country and its politics at a critical
point in our history.
While Republicans and Democrats continue their partisan bickering and
dysfunctional campaigns full of personal attacks, Americans Elect is
offering every voter in America, regardless of party affiliation or
location, an opportunity to bypass the two-party system and directly
nominate their choice for president through the first-ever national
online primary at AmericansElect.org.
