Our Principles

National Ballot Access

In order to place the nominated ticket on the 2012 ballot in all 50 states,Americans Elect is carefully following the ballot access laws of each state.

Delegates

Any registered American voter is free to become an Americans Elect delegate and, after verification, will be able to cast a secure vote in the online convention. Verified delegates have the exclusive power and authority to draft, support, oppose and nominate the Americans Elect ticket for president and vice president.

In order to vote in the online convention, the registration status of every delegate will be verified. Every vote will be counted fairly and accurately, and will generate a printable confirmation for review by an independent panel of experts.

Candidates

Any citizen constitutionally eligible to be President of the United States is free to seek the Americans Elect nomination, regardless of their party affiliation.

All candidates will be certified by an independent, nonpartisan committee to ensure they are qualified and capable of performing the duties of the presidency should they be elected to office.

The "Bipartisan Pledge"

To ensure the winning ticket is committed to working together across party lines, finalist candidates are required to choose a running mate from a party other than their own. With Americans Elect, voters will nominate a nonpartisan ticket that puts country before party, and American interests before special interests.

Platform of Questions

Americans Elect delegates will collectively decide on a “platform of questions” that all candidates will be required to answer in order to seek the nomination.  These questions will be formalized by the Platform of Questions Committee to ensure their integrity.

Convention

The Americans Elect nominee will be chosen by popular vote in a secure online convention in June of 2012. Each verified Delegate will be entitled to one vote in the online convention. Results of the convention will be verified by an Independent Panel of Experts.
