[Music] Text: Minnesota's "Hard Truths" for Fmr. Governor Pawlenty

Woman (Trista / St. Paul, MN): The hard truth is that we have to pay more taxes because Governor Pawlenty "wouldn't raise taxes."

Man: Our property taxes have gone up at an alarming rate...  I just don't understand why this guy thinks he can run for president.

Woman (Roann / Minneapolis, MN): What is he going to do with this country?  Bankrupt it?  Drive it into the ground.  That's what he's done in Minnesota.

Trista: Our property taxes have continued to be on the rise.  My parents live in rural Minnesota.  Their property taxes have gone through the roof because their small towns can't afford, and they get no assistance from the state agencies to even hire police officers.

Man (John / Brooklyn Park, MN): I own an apartment building.  Both my apartment building and my property tax here have gone up every year that Pawlenty was running.  And not going up by ones and two percents, but threes and four percents every year.

Roann: The hard truth for us is our property taxes have gone up a tremendous amount in the last number of years, almost tripling.

Pawlenty (audio clip): "If we can get Minnesota back on course, we can get it done anywhere."

Notes: Simple and effective.  Minnesotans talking to the camera about how property taxes rose during Pawlenty's tenure, interspersed with B&W video of Pawlenty.
