TEXT: President Ronald Reagan
Berlin Wall, Germany June 12, 1987
[Music] Reagan clip: Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall. [cheers]
Karger: I'm Fred
Karger. I worked for President Reagan for seven years.
Ronald Reagan stood up to the Soviet Union and the wall came
down.
[cheers]
Now Mitt Romney is running for president. He recently caved in
to pressure from the far right and let an openly gay member of campaign
team go. He is weak and indecisive. How will Mitt Romney
stand up to the leaders of Iran and North Korea if he won't stand up to
a bigoted bully like Bryan Fischer.
I stand up to bullies, be they foreign or domestic.
[cheers]
We need a tough, decisive leader, not a weak CEO.
I'm running for president of the United States. I'm Fred
Karger and I approve this message.
Notes: The campaign posted the 54-second video version.
From the press release...
In the commercial, Karger points out that as a protégé of Ronald Reagan
and a seven year member of his senior political team, he has Reagan’s
toughness and Mitt Romney does not.
A recent example is cited when Romney caved in to pressure from
right-wing American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer.
Fischer blasted Romney when he hired Ric Grenell, an openly gay,
immensely qualified spokesman on foreign policy. Romney let
Grenell go
after less than two weeks on the job.
In the ad, Karger asks the question, “How’s Mitt Romney going to stand
up to the leaders of Iran and North Korea if he can’t stand up to a
bigoted bully like Bryan Fischer?”
A :30 second version of the commercial will be running in
Los Angeles,
San Diego and San Francisco for five days. The ad will run
primarily
in the three Congressional districts that Karger has targeted.
California’s primary awards three delegates to the winner in each of
the state’s 53 districts. Karger is campaigning in:
The new 8th District - San Francisco (Nancy Pelosi – D)
The new 30th District - Los Angeles (Henry Waxman – D)
The new 53rd District - San Diego (Susan Davis – D)
