Pawlenty for President

"Results Not Rhetoric" +
:30 ad run on cable TV in Iowa starting June 22, 2011.

[Music] Pawlenty: A lot of candidates will come to Iowa and say the same things, the question is have they done it.

In a liberal state, I reduced spending in real terms for the first time, took on the government unions and won, appointed a conservative Supreme Court, and passed health care reform the right way—no mandates, no takeovers.

If I can do it in Minnesota, we can do it in Washington.

I'm Tim Pawlenty and I approve this message.

Notes: This first Iowa TV ad run by a major campaign this cycle.  According to news accounts the buy was a bit over $50,000 focusing primarily on Des Moines and Cedar Rapids.  Pawlenty emphasizes on his Minnesota record; the ad is mostly Pawlenty talking to the camera; there is one crowd shot and several stills woven in, one of which shows Pawlenty and his wife.  The DNC issued a fact check on this ad, arguing that, "The Minnesota Tim Pawlenty left behind wasn’t nearly as rosy as he’d like voters in Iowa to believe."  The IDP also reacted unfavorably.
