Romney for President, Inc.

"Mitt on the Road: Detroit, MI" +
1:09 web video from June 10, 2011.

[Music]

Mitt Romney (clip from speech): First, it's great to be back in Michigan.  This is home, the place I was born and raised.  I do love it here.

Mitt Romney: I remember going to the Detroit Auto Show with my dad.  That was a big deal.  I just thought being in the motor city was about as neat as anything you could possibly do.

Melissa (clip from speech): It breaks my heart to see how many years people have had a tough time in this state, to see how many jobs have been lost in this state.

Mitt Romney: What you see now is neighborhood after neighborhood where people have left, where homes have been boarded up.  I know President Obama doesn't have to take the blame for everything that's gone on in Detroit and other cities in America, but he sure didn't make things better.  He made things worse.  And instead of focusing all of his energy and passion on getting people back to work and fixing the economy, he focused on cap and trade and card check unionization and paid scant attention to the fact that you've got millions of Americans out of work, home values collapsing, foreclosures at record levels.  People here in Detroit are distressed.

Notes: This video has interesting footage of Romney driving around Detroit.  It very much conveys a regular guy type of image, and very different from 2008 imagery.  Romney leaves health care reform off the list of things Obama focused on, surely a major omission given the amount of effort Obama put into that.
