Newt 2012

"Newt: I don't believe in 99% or 1%; We are 100% Americans" +
  1:18 web video from Jan. 18, 2012.

Gingrich: I don't believe in the 99% and the 1%; I believe there are 100% of us who are Americans.  And the reason I say that is when Bill Gates dropped out of college because he had this idea for a tiny little company called Microsoft, was he in the 1% or the 99?  You know when Steve Jobs dropped out of college because he had this idea he could make a home computer, which at the time was very bold, was he in the 1% or the 99%?  When Henry Ford worked as a supervisor at the Edison Electric Company and built his first car at home at night was he in the 1% or the 99%.

Ronald Reagan used to tell a story about a man who was staying in Britain, was standing by the side of the road with his son or daughter and a Rolls Royce went by, and he said some day we're going to get that person out of that car.  He said in America, same person standing by the side of the road with his son or daughter would see a Cadillac go by; they would say some day you'll own that car.

It's a fundamentally different model.  I want everyone to have a chance to become the 1% and to rise.  The reason I'm for a you know—[applause]
