May 4, 2011--Newly elected
Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz
(FL-20), "the pride of South Florida," declared that Democrats will not
be outworked in 2012. Although President
Barack Obama announced
the selection of Wasserman Schultz on April 5, following the
resignation of Tim Kaine, the choice had to be approved by a vote of
members of the DNC. The meeting took place at the Fairfax Hotel,
with many
members participating by conference call. Wasserman Schultz
was first elected to
Congress in 2004 and had served as a DNC vice chair since Jan.
2009.
