June 3, 2011--Ann
Romney introduced her husband of 42 years. She noted that "it's
been a busy couple of days for Mitt and I." (Romney announced his
candidacy yesterday.) "I think we put a warning shot across the
bow of the Obama administration," Ann Romney said, "because we're
coming to get him." "I was the one who encouraged Mitt recently
to think about getting back in this race," she said, citing her concern
for the future of the country and her grandchildren. She also
noted how her husband had stood by her in meeting some challenges of
her own. "When I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he was
the man that stood by me and helped me pull through that and gave me
the strength to overcome that illness. He was also by my side
when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. And that was two years
ago, and he stood by me through thick and thin through that."
Further, she said, "He is the guy that knows how to fix things and how
to put things back on track and how to turn things around."

Romney stated, "We're united
tonight in a lot of things. We're united in the love we have for
this great country, we're united in our belief in the sanctity of human
life, we're united in our belief in the importance and significance
marriage between one man and one woman, we're united in our belief in
America, and tonight as we gather we're also united in our concern for
America, because our country is in peril." "Barack Obama has
failed the American people," Romney declared.
