Overview: Strongly conservative Utah, headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church), threw solid
support behind Mitt Romney, providing him with a plurality of 488,787 votes (48.04 percentage points--his widest percentage margin of any state).  Romney also gained a boost from Utah volunteers mobilized to help in battleground states, particularly Nevada, and from $9.2 million in contributions (FEC).  There were a few visits: Romney (June 8; major donor retreat June 22-24; Sept. 18), Ryan (Sept. 5) and Biden (July 10-11).  Utah is also the base of Justice Party presidential candidate Rocky Anderson, the former mayor of Salt Lake City, and the headquarters of former Gov. Gary Johnson's campaign.
