Oct. 7, 2011--Herman Cain
addresses the 2011 Values
Voter Summit. Cain's star has been rising since he won the
Presidency 5 straw poll; in his remarks he observed "you know, when you
run for president and you move into the top tier--I'm just saying--then
you get this bull's eye on your back." Cain delivered his
standard standard stump speech starting with a familiar quote.
"One
of my heroes, Dr. Benjamin E.
Mays, used to remind the young men of Morehouse when he said:
'Let it be borne in mind that the
tragedy of life does not lie in not reaching your goals. The
tragedy lies in not having any goals to
reach for. It's not a tragedy to die
with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a calamity to have no dreams.'" [transcript]
