Close to two thousand attendees participated in a straw poll, and Rep. Ron Paul won with 37-percent.  However, the results were significantly skewed by over 600 people who
registered on the final day of the conference; the vast majority of them were Paul supporters.  Former Gov. Mitt Romney, the GOP frontrunner according to conventional wisdom, obtained only 4-percent.  Perkins said Romney hit all the right notes in his speech, but that the outcome showed "there's still work to do" for Romney.
