Romney for President June 2012 Videos
The
Romney
campaign continues to use videos primarily to hit President Obama on
his economic record. It started the month with "Symbol of
Failure" on Solyndra. From "Dismal"/"Deprimente" through "Looks
Like A One-Term Proposition" and "Our Time" to "Recover Our Country"
and "Since He's Been Gone" little is said about what former Gov. Romney
would do as president. "American Strength - North Carolina" does
include some rhetoric, but that is about all. Following the
Supreme Court's ruling on the Affordable Care Act/Obamacare, the
campaign responded quickly with "Day One, Job One: #FullRepeal."
The campaign also
produced a couple of non-campaign theme videos. "Raising the
Flag" features citizens (but not Romney) talking about what the flag
means to them, and "Father's Day" shows the five Romney sons talking
about Romney as a father; as with the "Mother's Day" video, candidate
Romney does not talk about his father, which from a voter's view might
be more useful.
Romney for President May 2012 Videos
The
Romney
campaign started the month in videos with some fairly formulaic attacks
highlighting
negative
statistics on Obama's
economic record. In the latter part of the month, the campaign
issued several videos
which put faces on the
statistics--"A Few of the 23 Million" (May 15) and "Stories from the
Obama Economy" (May 23) as well as "A Few More of the 23 Million" (May
17). In a counterattack to attacks on Romney's work at Bain, "Not
Even Half" hits Obama
for giving money "to companies like Solyndra that are linked to big
Obama and Democrat donors." The Mother's Day video is
interesting in that it focuses on Ann Romney, providing no insights on
the candidate; by contrast in the Obama campaign's Mother's Day video
the Obama
talks about his mother and upbringing. A second Ann
Romney-centered video ties in to World Multiple Sclerosis Day.
With the exception of a
video on Cuban
Independence Day, in which he appealed to the Cuban American
constituency,
there is scant evidence of ideas, policies,
or what Romney is for.
Romney for President April 2012 Videos
In April Romney became the presumptive nominee.
Only seven
Romney for President videos were noted, and astoundingly none of them
say anything about Mitt Romney or his views; five were attacks on Obama
and two focused on Ann Romney.
